AI invented a FiveM native? How to check it

Guide · checked against the docs on

AI coding tools are good at Lua and bad at knowing which FiveM names really exist. Three mistakes to look for: client-side natives used on the server, old ESX functions, and framework exports that were never real. This guide shows a quick way to check every name before the code reaches your server.

FiveM, Cfx.re, QBCore, Qbox, ESX and Overextended are named for identification only. ShipWithAI is not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by Cfx.re, Rockstar Games, Take-Two Interactive or any framework team.

The 2-minute check

  1. List every name that is not plain Lua. Natives (GetEntityCoords), framework calls (QBCore.Functions.GetPlayer, exports.qbx_core:GetMoney, ESX.GetPlayerFromId), library calls (lib.callback.register, MySQL.query.await) and events.
  2. Look up natives in the official reference: docs.fivem.net/natives. Check the namespace and the side. The CFX namespace lists server versions of some natives. For example, GetPlayerPed has a server version that takes a player source and a client version that takes a player id.
  3. Look up framework calls only in the framework's own docs: QBCore server functions and player functions; Qbox qbx_core server exports; ESX server functions and xPlayer; ox_lib, oxmysql and ox_inventory at overextended.dev.
  4. No page means the name doesn't exist. A name that looks right but has no doc page is invented. Don't keep it "to see if it works".
  5. Check the signature, not just the name. For example, the Qbox docs list exports.qbx_core:AddMoney(identifier, moneyType, amount, reason), where identifier is a source or citizenid, and it returns a boolean.

Common invented names

What the AI wroteWhat the docs show
QBCore.Functions.AddMoney(...)Money is on the player object: Player.Functions.AddMoney('cash', amount) (docs)
exports.qbx_core:GivePlayerCash(...)Not in the Qbox docs. Use exports.qbx_core:AddMoney(source, 'cash', amount, reason)
xPlayer.getMoney() for new ESX codeThe ESX docs say it is "only provided for backwards compatibility" and point to xPlayer.getAccount('money').money
A client native in a server fileCheck the side on the native page. Server code needs the server (CFX) version

Make the AI check itself

Add this to your request:

> Before writing code, list every native, export and event you plan to use with its official doc URL (docs.fivem.net/natives, docs.fivem.net, or the framework's docs). If you cannot give a URL, do not use the name. Mark it NOT FOUND and ask me.
